Now just so I could check all of my options, I bought an M1 to see if Inkscape would work a bit better on it and to my amazement it runs just as well if not faster than on my Windows machine ( the difference in performance when running it on Linux is marginal and not worth the hassle ). I really wanted to work on a Mac for that fabulous 5k screen but to be honest the experience of using Inkscape on that machine is utterly horrible. I use Inkscape on a daily basis for my work and my files are usually pretty much heavy loaded with a lot of objects and text. I have a 2020 I7 Imac and recently got an M1 mac air.
